Cycle for Change

Mother Teresa

“Do not wait for leaders; do it alone, person to person.”

― Mother Teresa

I always had a wish and an ultimate desire for this ultimate adventure of cycling across the 29 States of India, a journey of about 20,000 km.  Ever since the day I successfully reached Delhi cycling all the way from Panvel. (near Mumbai). But I needed a cause on which I would have total conviction, I would read about People doing a cross country ride not aiming for a podium, but to go round on simply passing a message to as many people as they can on the go. They are my idols my inspiration.
There were an array of causes that I could have picked up like few of my friends Cycled from Vasai (Thane) to Katmandu (Nepal) promoting 'Beti Bachao' across the states like Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.  Another group rode to promote 'Swatch Bharat' (Clean India), and one more to with the message of Education to a girl child.
Yes, All these were great causes. But for me, as I have always loved nature It had to do something to do with nature.  Hence I chose Climate Change to be my topic or study and awareness. I got my inspiration from Hari AKA Nature Baba, a friend who spread this idea of planting a tree in each school he visited, his journey called Project 35 Trees.
I was on a vacation, recovering from the knee surgery and while an errand just around the corner I came across this thought by Mother Teresa, that instantly added a lot of clarity to the idea of how things should be done. "Do it alone, person to person."
This was the Eureka for me, my cause had to be the subject of Climate Change, and there I began collecting information meeting and knowing people from the field. These days my favourite pass time while commuting is to ask random people "So what do you think about Climate Change" Here is a little about my Journey to make a small difference and reach this amazing goal of touching peoples lives as I can while Cycling my bike across 29 states.

What Exactly is Change4Climatechange?
It is a Journey across the Length and Breath of the country Spreading awareness about How we as a country are contributing to climate change, and what as an individual can make some basic changes in our day to day lives to make a huge difference, India is known as a young country, and most of its youth that can still be moulded positively is in its Schools. My plan is to visit one school a day and not to explain but to make them aware of the importance of climate and how rapidly it's changing. What can they do about it?

Why?
To get attention mostly :P *type tongue smiley*
Earth is getting warmer, Due to greater carbon emissions the greenhouse gasses get trapped within the atmosphere and hence Earth is getting warmer sooner than expected, it's like we an extra blanket on Earth. This is natural and was suppose to happen in a few hundred years, it is already warmer than expected in last 25 years instead.

Ours is one of the most densely populated countries, and awareness to its young citizens in regards to climate change can help make a positive impact on the ecosystem. We are not a fossil addicted country, you may say. I agree and so It is both, simple and complicated at the same time. It is my personal experience that with a little deeper study about the subject might lead you to a brief stage of depression or sadness. That is the kind of impact we as humans have caused to nature due to our heavy emissions. It is growing like never before.

Where
I plan to visit schools mostly between 2 tier cities covering approximately a 100 to 150 km daily. With a pocket size projector and a short film or presentation that spread awareness about climate change. Importantly to learn what Youth thinks about climate change. I will also be Planting sapling matching to the numbers of schools that I will be visiting. to Off-set my carbon emissions during the journey.

When
Early 2020 - This is not just about the ride to 29states but the aim is to gain a great amount of knowledge in the subject meet some of those extraordinary people, so when it comes to explaining I have a clear picture, hence a good time for self-learning first. Without a doubt, nothing is for free so to collect funds needed to cover the length and breaths of this great country on the most Eco-friendly vehicle ever built. Bicycle.

How
I am not the Filthy rich bloke with fancy dreams, and so it's obvious I don't have enough money to bear the expenses on my own. Fortunately today we live in an age that is so well connected via the internet. So it's gonna be one of those Crowd-funded ones.

I assume you (the reader) live in urban areas with good schooling are aware of the importance of the subject. and so My journey is totally dependent on someone like you, someone who cares.
Another reason to Crowdfund the entire journey is to make you connected to the subject and track it so that you too can spread this message alongside.

Thank you for your time. I leave you with one note
"Climate change is not just real, but it's urgent too"
